The Worst Thank You Note Ever

(The Man made his own camera this weekend. Yeah, that's just the sort of thing he does. This is a picture he took of our lovely and invasive bamboo out back.)

I was feeling a little glum right before lunch today. It's a gray day, on the cold side, and we've got a week of rain ahead of us. February, right?

I made a hummus wrap and sat down at the kitchen table to eat. I noticed Will's pile of Christmas thank you notes (I know, I know, we're running a little late on the thank you notes this year) and picked one up. Here's what it said:

Grammy and Pop,

Thank you for the gift cards. I don't remember what I used them for.

From Will

It is the worst thank you note ever. My children are barbarians. I cannot stop laughing.

The grandparents will get a good laugh out of that too, I'm sure. You are a great mom and daughter to make sure the kids send the thank-you's at all.

My parents gave me a reconditioned typewriter when I was 8. All my thank you letters that year were typed on REALLY flimsy paper with carbon sheets in between, and said "Thank you for the lovely Christmas gift you sent me. My best gift this year was a typewriter from Mummy and Daddy" My parents made me redo them all BY HAND![even tho I pointed out Dad used carbons when he sent meeting agendas to all the Church Leadership team!]
G-J is right, you are being a great mum getting them to write the T-Ys in the first place.

Oh blogs make me feel soooo inadequate!

Send it as it is. Grandparents love their grandkids no matter what they do or write. Charlie once laid his head on my mom's tummy and said, "I love you because you're squishy." This to a woman who until the last 5 years treasured her size 2 waist. Nevertheless, it's one of the most treasured comments my mom remembers him saying.

It's going to be great to be a grandparent and released from all the responsibilites and pressures of parenthood. Allow your parents the grace to fill the role of grandparent.

The fact that he writes thank you notes should earn him all the points he loses in finesse.

Thank you's don't get written here. Don't know if it's just or what, but we just don't. Maybe I need to mail apologies instead?!

Oh wow!! I literally laughed out loud when I read your post. Sounds like something my son would do too. Bless you for having your children send out thank you notes.

Blessings!

Will is very cool.
I love the photos with the old camera, that's amazing that it works and makes those beautiful pictures.
I love catching up on your blog when there's four or five posts to read.

Hilarious! I'm a left-handed mom of two tiny boys myself, and found my way here by accident while looking for information on left-handedness. I'm very happy to have found this blog.
