Greetings from the Sickbed

What fun! We're all sick at once. To make things even more interesting, we've all got different stuff. Will, for instance, has a simple, straightforward cold. Jack has full-fledged flu. I've got some bug that has pretty much wiped me out, but doesn't seem to have any other symptoms--no fever, no sore throat, no aches and pains.

The Man--well, he probably has all of the above, but will he admit it? No. He just motors on, denying that he feels the least bit bad--well, maybe he has a touch of headache, feels just the slightest bit run down ... But really, he's fine. Off to work!

Will's had his cold since Sunday morning (and is in school, though I kept him out Monday, just in case it was the flu masquerading as a cold). Jack's had the flu since Sunday night. I've had my thing since Monday morning around 10:23. Have you ever had that? Where you're feeling fine and dandy, doing your chores, and all the sudden you have some strange sensation that something's not quite right. Maybe you're hungry? Well, you didn't sleep all that well last night, you're probably just feeling the affects of not getting enough rest ...

And then it hits you: You're sick. Go lie down, because you're done in for.

Fortunately, you can still manage a household when you're wiped out, especially if your husband insists on being in denial about that fact that he feels wiped out, too. So we're managing just fine, except The Man and Jack fretting about whether they'll get to go on their big camping trip to the mountains this weekend.

I don't know why I'm sharing all this. Just an excuse to say "hi," I guess. I hope I'll be back in a day or so to let you know I'm fine and dandy once again. But until then, I believe another nap is in order.

So sorry to hear that you're all under-the-weather. That makes life a bit hard. Who's going to make the chicken noodle soup?

Get well soon.

There is but one good thing about all being unwell together. No one has the energy to be their normal loud, fast, energetic selves!!! We've all just curled up on the couch together when this has happened to us...a tangle of arms and legs with intermittent deep sleep breathing with the TV to entertain us.

The reason you posted? Because from somewhere else beyond your own four walls someone will provide you with just a little cheer and some virtual chicken soup. What a shame genie's and good witches are imaginary or we could zap you some from across the world LOL.

Take care of yourself and go with the desire to nap at whim. It's obviously what you need.

I hope you are well soon! There are so many sick people around here. At school, so much nose blowing. I said to one student, "I'm tired of your cold."

Thanks, everyone! Jack is back to school today, so we're getting closer to being all better. And Tracy, I think you're right--I was looking for virtual chicken soup. It feels good to connect, especially when you're feeling a little disconnected yourself.

You poor things. Is it Usual Flu or Swine Flu?
When I am sick, I drink lots of tea and eat hot buttered toast with Marmite [do you HAVE Marmite over there?]
Sleep when you need to, ignore the housework, and I hope you are all well again soon.
As you have already been sent virtual chicken soup, I shall just send a virtual bunch of flowers!

Hi Frances!
Thinking of you and hoping you are on the mend! Now, when do we get to see that sweater you are knitting? Can we just see part of it? If you are like me, you may stretch out the process, but just show us a little. My sweater in progress is a symbol of angst right now - I'm frozen. Can't make it happen. So, that's why I'd like to see yours! I know you are also working on a book. I'm excited about THAT, too! ooxxpp

Angela, I'm sure that at some store somewhere, there is Marmite here, but I don't know where, and I don't actually know what it is. Is it chocolate? Because if it's chocolate, I'll go looking for it. Thanks for the virtual flowers; they smell great!

Pom-Pom, I'm working on two sweaters right now (have put down the lace for the time being). I'll post pix soon.

Marmite is a vegemite-like substance. To the untrained taste bud it is probably not something I would recommend. But then I'm biased. I hate vegemite...and marmite and promite. ICK.
