I say this as a proud Midwesterner who thinks of herself as very different from a Northerner. As long as no one takes a look at a map to confirm just how north Ohio really is, I'm in good shape.

As for you new quilt, I'm partial to an off-white muslin background. It will highlight the beautiful colors of the plates. Then you can do something fun with the back.

Congratulations on a beautiful quilt and a beautiful short film. "Video" gets an eye roll and dismissive tone like "Northerner." "Film" is artsy and wonderful.Kindness mattershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09909753736434528107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626107370797678390.post-8193978383149022402015-06-02T22:22:25.862-07:002015-06-02T22:22:25.862-07:00That was a great video. She has a friend quilt-collector here in California named Eli -- he is too old now to take care of them, but he has thousands of quilts in his house.gretchenjoannahttp://www.gretchenjoanna.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626107370797678390.post-57382248331568469102015-06-01T23:36:44.999-07:002015-06-01T23:36:44.999-07:00First, that video was excellent. Something to save up and aim for in a year when Easter is at the end of March and I am on term break.

As for the background for your dresden plates? Such a difficult choice…You could go navy blue, deep green (maybe something of a sage shade), deep brown. You could go a hundred different ways and still get it absolutely right. Frustrating isn't it! I can't wait to see how it turns out though because your quilts are always stunningly beautiful.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07511855282323456046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626107370797678390.post-50370880684490448192015-06-01T15:42:50.393-07:002015-06-01T15:42:50.393-07:00I so enjoyed going to Uncle Eli's Quilt party....I so enjoyed going to Uncle Eli's Quilt party. The folks there remind me of some of my local people whom I dearly love. I enjoyed hearing your voice too, Frances.

Now about that Dresden Plate....I'm rather a traditionalist and I like an off white muslin-type background so the plates get to be the stars of the quilt, but I like to do something a little different on the backside -- colors, patterns, an extra block or two. That's where I like to change a traditional quilt up a little bit. Isn't it fun that all of us have our own style and ways with quilts? I like that.Gumbo Lilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02747138637571716591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626107370797678390.post-13073343960148228562015-06-01T12:23:01.611-07:002015-06-01T12:23:01.611-07:00The video is awesome (way to go YOU and the MAN!) ...The video is awesome (way to go YOU and the MAN!) What a wonderful event!
I love your plates and I think something sort of light green would be good for the background, but I LOVE green.
(BIG HUG!)Pom Pomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01524994024698986829noreply@blogger.com
